Dear Neighbors,

Today has truly been one of the most remarkable days in our country’s history, and the sounds and images on our screens are frightening and saddening. Over the years we have seen many challenges to authority, to our system, and even to each other. However, we have always emerged stronger and doubled down on our commitment to a more perfect union. Let’s not forget that our institutions are strong, our commitment to rule of law is unchanged, and that government by the people and for the people remains our foundational principle. We have the oldest democracy on earth and we will pull together so that does not change. Please everyone, stay home, stay safe and reach out to neighbors and friends who may be feeling

Republic Services Christmas Tree Pickup Dates

Republic Services will collect Christmas Trees on the following two Wednesdays, January 6, 2020 and January 13, 2020.  Please remove all lights, ornaments, tinsel, etc. and place your tree where you normally leave yard waste.  Trees over six feet tall should be be cut in half.  Please note that there are only two dates for this special Christmas Tree pick-up service.

Dear Neighbors,

As we close out a year that has been dark for so many, I encourage you to look for the light that surrounds us during the holidays. Our faith communities, neighborhoods and homes have been lit inside and out to celebrate our diverse faiths and the beginning of a new year. It has really been a treat to see such creative and joyous use of light all around Hunter Mill District. And for those of us interested in the visible heavens, keep an eye on the sky on Dec. 21 when Jupiter and Saturn will be so close in the sky that they will appear to be one bright star. The last time this occurred during a night sky was 800 years ago, so make sure you take a few
