Maintaining current contact information helps the board and its committees reach owners and tenants with important board announcements as well as during emergency events such as a water/gas main break or to report storm damage to vehicles or other property.  Each owner and paying tenant should complete a separate form.  Non-resident owners should enter their address at the end of the form.  Note: You do NOT need to have a Google account in order to update and submit the form.

To My Hunter Mill District Neighbors:

As I noted in Monday's update, the COVID-19 numbers in our area are improving but we must continue to be cautious and follow health guidelines. This is especially essential for our older adults and people with underlying health conditions. Good advice from Fairfax Health Director Dr. Gloria Addo Ayensu - “Before venturing out, it is important for you to consider your own personal situation and the risks it poses to you, your family and your community. Just because you can go to more places doesn’t mean you should.” The CDC provides some really helpful guidance on errands and going out - I encourage you to take a look.
 
In addition, please review these three steps to take care of your health from the Fairfax County Health Department:
Step 1. Minimize Your Risk 
  •  In general, the more closely you interact with others and the longer that interaction, the higher the risk of COVID-19 spread. That’s why you are safer at home and should limit in-person contact. Let your family and friends know this is the time for social distancing but not social isolation.
Step 2. Make a Plan
  • Talk with family members now to determine who will help you if you get sick.
  • Recognize that caring for a sick family member puts you at greater risk for illness. Make a caregiving plan now for ill family members.
Step 3. Follow Health Recommendations
  • Wash hands frequently or use hand sanitizer
  • Cover your coughs/sneezes with a tissue or into your elbow
  •  Avoid close contact with people who are sick
  •  Clean and disinfect surfaces and things you touch often (tables, chairs, doorknobs) to remove germs.
  • Get rest and stay hydrated

Eviction Prevention Resources During COVID-19
Federal Eviction Moratorium
  • A federal eviction moratorium through the CARES Act took effect March 27 and extends for 120 days plus 30 day notice (through August 24) applying to “covered dwellings,” certain rental properties with federal assistance or federally related financing.
  •  Landlords of “covered dwellings” are prohibited from filing new eviction actions (for failing to pay rent), requiring a tenant to vacate (for failing to pay rent), charging fees, penalties or other charges.
  • This temporary moratorium covers approximately 25% of rental units across the U.S.
Commonwealth of Virginia
Fairfax County
  •  Fairfax County Redevelopment and Housing Authority (FCRHA) COVID-19 policies
  • Evictions for nonpayment of rent, and charges/fees for nonpayment of rent, have been suspended. This applies to all HUD-assisted participants (Housing Choice Voucher, Public Housing and Section 8) from March 27 to July 24. 
  • All income re-certifications and interim re-certifications will continue to be processed as quickly as possible; however, clients may experience some delays depending on staffing availability. Priority will be given to families experiencing a loss of income due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
  • For renters at county owned and managed properties, late rent penalties are waived through July.
  • On May 29, Fairfax County General District Court began hearing eviction cases that were filed prior to March 16. These cases now will be delayed until after July 24.
  • On June 1, the Supreme Court of Virginia extended the Judicial Emergency through June 28.
  • No pending or newly issued evictions will be served through June 28.    
  • For those called to court for eviction proceedings, you may be able to get a 60 Day continuance:
  • The tenant must go to their first return date with written proof of lost income between March 12 and June 10. Written proof means: A pay stub showing zero dollars in earnings, or a copy of a furlough notification letter or essential employee status letter indicating the employee's status as nonessential due to the emergency, or any other documentation deemed appropriate by a court or lender (such as a signed affidavit) if no other proof can be provided.

Library Curbside Pickup Begins Saturday Hours June 27
Library branches will begin offering Saturday curbside pickup on June 27, from 10 a.m. through 4 p.m. in addition to their current Monday - Friday schedule.

Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles Closed Friday,
June 19
All DMV offices will be closed on Friday, June 19 in observance of the Juneteenth holiday. More than 40 transactions are available online at http://dmvNOW.com.
